By using TP Wood Recycling you are helping the environment

Using TP Wood Recycling is more than just about saving you money, you will also be making a valuable contribution to the collective environmental effort and helping us to re-use and recycle materials which previously would have gone to landfill.

The Recycling team at work

To recognise the contribution you are making, we:

  • supply a regular Summary of Recycling, which lets you know about what happens to the waste wood we collect from you
  • issue an annual Certificate of Recycling which shows the volume of timber saved from landfill, and recognises your commitment to reducing waste, saving resources and the environment

What happens to your waste wood?

At our specialist site, the collected material is sorted and stored.

  • Any long lengths, larger pieces of sheet material, doors or other re-usable items are sold back to the community for DIY or given to other groups or charities
  • Some of the timber is used to make all sorts of items - such as bird boxes, compost bins, shelves, sheds and furniture
  • Much of the remainder is chopped up for fire wood and kindling
  • Some of the wood is sent for chipboard production, or for composting
  • Inevitably a small proportion of what we collect cannot be recycled and is returned to conventional waste disposal
  • We can re-use or recycle 80% of what we collect and over time TP Wood Recycling aims to find additional uses for the 'waste' timber
